About Us
Jeev Paritran is an alliance of like-minded people from different walks of life, who have one thing in common – an immense love and respect for nature. The alliance aims to educate and raise awareness about the importance & role of different life forms in maintaining the delicate balance in nature, specially the smaller life forms, the Arthropods.
Jeev Paritran aims to:
- Document and prepare a visual inventory of arthropods found in different ecosystems and habitats
- Enhance the understanding of ecology and conservation of all life forms, especially, arthropods among school children, youth and farmers
- Document the current state of affair and environmental threats faced by different ecosystems and their inhabitants
Core Team
Mr. Chattar Singh Jam
A Gandhian by principle and a farmer by profession, Mr. Chattar Singh Jam is also known as the “Water wizard of the Thar Desert”. He has been instrumental in conservation of hundreds of traditional rainwater harvesting structures like the khadins, beris, across the Thar desert. He comes with immense knowledge, experience and expertise in sustainable development in the fragile desert ecosystem.
Mr. Nishikant Jadhav
A retired Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer, Mr. Nishikant Jadhav comes with over 5 decades of diverse expertise and experience in wildlife conservation. Mr. Jadhav leads the Satpura hills documentation programme spread across the Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
Mr. Manish Rai
Mr. Manish Rai is an ecologist with a deep-seated love and respect for all things living. He has been working closely with children & young people for over 3 decades, to get them acquainted with the flora and fauna of different habitats. He is also a King cobra conservation specialist with decades of experience in working on the issue in Ramgarh region in Uttarakhand.
Mr. Angshuman Bhattacharya
Mr. Angshuman Bhattacharya is trained in direction, editing, pre & post production & visual effects (VFX). He has been associated with feature films projects, documentary films and web-based projects.
Ms. Rachana Pandey
Ms. Rachana Pandey is an educator by nature & profession and specializes in research, content development and data literacy. She holds a masters in Environmental Sciences and has been associated in school programs. Rachana strategizes the children engagement activities for the ongoing programmes.
Mr. Amit Roy
Mr Amit Roy is a wildlife photographer specializing in photo documentation of smaller life forms, especially arthropods. He is the founder member of Jeev Paritran and co-leads all the all the current initiatives.
Mr. Roy is also a social development and Corporate Social Responsibility professional with over 2 decades of experience & expertise in the field of soil & water conservation, agriculture, livelihoods, and education among others. He has been associated with agencies such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Save the Children-UK (SCF), Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), American India Foundation (AIF), The Art of Living Foundation (AOL), central and state government projects and others.
Support Team: The core team is supported by sector specialists like school teachers, agriculturists, ecologists, marine biologists, reptile conservationists, social scientists, water specialists, retired forest government officials, artists, documentary film-makers, IT specialists and wildlife photographers.

All the programs are being self funded by the founder, Amit Roy.
