Few of my students were scheduled to take a test yesterday. But, none of them took it!

While all had some reasons or other, i personally feel they were a victim of procrastination. All of us procrastinate at different times.

Many articles have been written on “Procrastination”. They are very helpful and awesome! However, there seems a vacuum in the area of ease of identifying the tasks that people are most likely to procrastinate.

There are many techniques that could be helpful to overcome procrastination. But the first step in my opinion, is to identify the tasks that an individual is most likely to procrastinate.

Interestingly, i did not find any list of such tasks.

Every individual would probably have different set of tasks that he or she need to perform in a day and within that, few task are likely to be procrastinated. No wonder why i did not find one common list representing all individuals.

To me it seems really important for individuals who consider themselves to have been a victim of procrastination is to first identify their list of tasks in a day and figure out the tasks from that list that are most likely to be procrastination.

And, in order to do that, i have figured out a new technique. Look at my sample list of tasks today. Each row contains a task and 5 questions associated with it (these questions are from my experience). Notice that last column “Is your task most likely to be procrastinated?” Interestingly, all tasks listed for today were perfect candidates for procrastination!

Once i have identified the tasks that i would most likely procrastinate, i decided to work towards overcoming each.  Writing an article was the last in my plan. And, no article title could have been better that this!

Make your list of tasks, find out the task that you are most likely to procrastinate and have a plan to counter procrastination (you would find plenty of techniques on the web).

I have also create an excel sheet to help you list and find out tasks that you are most likely to be procrastinate?

Download the excel sheet by clicking HERE.

Conclusion:

My technique could help identify the tasks one would most likely procrastinate. One can either come up with a plan to overcome procrastinating the task or accept to defer the task. Either ways, it could help! Keep in mind your are the best person to decide that!

This article would not be complete without my favourite quote from Saint Kabir Das

काल करे सो आज कर, आज करै सो अब |
पल में परलय होयगी, बहुरी करेगा कब ||
-संत कबीर दास जी (a 15th-century Indian poet and saint)

Well, it looks like we have been procrastinating for a centuries now!
